Luxury car market still buoyant in India:

Aug 25 Global slowdown might have impacted the automobile sales in general, but the market of luxury cars is still buoyant in India, an industry expert said today."The market of luxury cars is on an upswing in India, as it has registered a year-on-year growth of 7 to 8 per cent," Mercedes- Benz India, Director ( Sales and Marketing) Debhashis Mitra said on the sidelines of launch of its first' Special Edition C-Class&apossedan here. Since the launch of C-Class in 2001, Mercedes Benz has sold 7,850 units across the country, he said. In the last one and half year we have sold 2,500 units of C-Class since the launch of its another variant in January 2008. The market is bright for it in India, Mitra said." Special Edition of C-Class is not a regular model. The target customer for it would be global young achievers,"he said. The company will manufacture just 60 units of this special edition vehicle, having fifty per cent mix of both petrol and diesel versions. PTI
