The GT3 Cup car features the same wide body in the back, the same sheet metal up front and the same 3.8 Liter flat six as the beefed up GT3 for the street, however in order to create a competitive machine the Porsche fabricators apply the same lightweight thinking that is in the RS but this time with a racing car. So the Cup car receives a few race specific items like a rear wing carried over from last year’s International FIA GT3 car, an all new exhaust that accentuates the burble of the boxer engine while responsibly controlling emissions at the same time. The Cup car comes standard with the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes that drop over 40 pounds from the weight of the car, and because it is a race car there is even more adjustability built into the suspension.
Like all of the 911s built for racing use, the new GT3 Cup car is available exclusively in Carrera White and will be delivered to customers by the end of October, giving them plenty of time to prepare for all the Porsche Mobil1 Super cup and international Porsche Carrera Cups that will be taking place in Germany, Italy, Asia, Japan the Middle East and even here in the U.S.AThe Scorpion’s chrome-moly tube chassis is wrapped in a custom made carbon fiber skin thanks to the legendary Gaffoglio family from Metalcrafters. The exterior of the 40 MPG super car has enough bold curves and cutouts to secure its place as an exotic sports car. The heart of the RMC Scorpion is a 3.5 Liter V6 from an Acura TL that has been upgraded with a pair of Turbonetics turbochargers and a H2GO hydrogen injection system, this alternative fuel mixture increases fuel economy by 20% to 30% while reducing emissions at the same time. The combination is good for around 600 HP, which allows the 2200 pound super car to go from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.5 seconds and reach a theoretical top speed of 200 MPH.
Ferrari has just released a new video along with some photos of the real life 458 Italia tearing up a racetrack in the nude and some more reveling images of the interior. The topic of Maranello’s latest feature is style, and who better to tell us about it than Paolo Pininfarina, the Chaiman of Pininfarina S.p.A. So when he tells you that there were a lot of historical elements that went into the 458’s design, you can take his word for it.
However the Italia’s styling is not all about looking good, in fact it is quite the opposite. Paolo explains that the design was driven by aerodynamic efficiency “Every part of the car, from the mouth to the side fins to the rear air outlets are built to improve the car’s aerodynamics, he says."All the design choices are driven by aerodynamics, but the final result is very light and essential." This resulted in a very light sports car that is capable of outperforming the outgoing F-430. The 458 Italia maintains the classic side profile of the modern day Ferrari but has a bit more focus on airflow. The side skirts were designed to act like rudders pushing air away from the turbulent rear wheels just like the front bumper on our Prius.
Looking at the 458 from behind you would think that the majority of the hot air in the engine compartment would be escaping through those two large mesh grills, but in fact almost all of it rises out from either side of the back glass. Those grills were as meticulously designed as the scoops that feed them in order to get as much air the mid engine sports car’s radiators without affecting how the car cuts through the air. However in true Ferrari fashion they manage to keep us on the edge of our seats, Paolo’s last word into the camera is that the center element hanging from the chassis of the car will have “two exhaust pipes, and one center pipe.” We are hoping for an F-40 inspired unit. If our guesses are correct from yesterday’s interior reveal, a turbo all wheel drive Ferrari sure would be sweet.
The Mercedees Benz G Wagon celebrated it’s 30 anniversiry this year, and Hamann is celebrating by giving the Austrian military’s favorite fast attack vehicle a birthday present in the form of a complete makeover, both inside and out of this G55 AMG as well as under the hood. Owners can choose from either a mild 35 HP upgrade, or go all out with the HM 600 performance kit that beefs up the 5.4 Liter engine with a blower to produce 600 HP and 576 lb-ft of torque, and like we said before, can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 162 MPH. Pretty impressive for an all-terrain machine.

If you're the owner of a five-year-old luxury car, you might finally be thinking about getting a new one.
Foive years ago demand for BMWs and Bentleys were sizzling as the stock market climbed to the moon. Then the double whammy of high oil prices and an economic crisis cooled even the wealthiest buyer's appetite for exotic machinery. Many luxury car owners thought it prudent to hold on to their wheels while taking stock of their financial situation. At the same time, high-end automakers, seeing the market for their products seize up, are now aggressively promoting discounts and deals to their existing customers. Manhattan Mercedes-Benz, for example, is offering $0 down payment and annual percentage rate financing of only 1.9% for a trade-in on a 2009 E-Class. That's more than 60% off the standard 4.9% APR.
Not only are there plenty of deals, but many of the new cars due out soon on the sales floors were conceived during the peak of the boom, and even a global recession wasn't enough to put the brakes on production. Take the new Jaguar XJ, for example. While dealers are slashing the price on the outgoing model to clear excess inventory,During the past six months, more than 170 cars have been destroyed by fire in Berlin and police confirm conservatively that 93 were politically motivated attacks.
A mysterious, single page website, brennende-autos.de (Burning Cars of Berlin), shows the number of cars set alight and where the crimes occurred, revealing clusters in ''richer'' areas, or in suburbs where gentrification and redevelopment are changing the demographic of local neighbourhoods...
Police cars, too, are being targeted. The favoured method is to use the slow-burn barbecue fire starters, which take time to smoulder and provide plenty of get-away time for the perpetrators.
''It is very difficult to get evidence. The fire can be started underneath a car but the person that did it can be many streets away when it is alight,'' Mr Millert said.
In its budgetary proposal for 2009-10, the ICMAP suggested that luxury cars having 1600CC or above capacity should be banned while a ban should also be announced on the purchase of cars by the government for five years. The ICMAP has submitted a set of proposals to the federal government this week.
According to ICMAP, the defence expertise should be utilised for the uplift of civil society in respect of health, engineering and agriculture sector to boost the economy. It stressed increase in dependency on agriculture sector, unutilised agricultural land to be given on short period lease to the group of people with agriculture background for cultivation.
The institute further proposed that the government-run schools should be developed on modern lines to improve the education system and the standards. Manufacturing should be encouraged instead of trading business based on imports; all support should be given to the industrial sector to avoid slowdown and complete halt in the sector while in addition to catering high cost of production, provision of utilities (gas, electricity) should be made efficient and uninterrupted.
ICMAP further said that a medium to long term policy framework for the development of the manufacturing sector should be prepared. For proper identification of industries the country should and can concentrate, based on its economic fundamentals and then a facilitation process be implemented through cascading of duties to be levied for the same while documentation of economy by compulsory issue of receipt for every transaction made by any business.
Tax net to be broadened, no new tax should be levied on the existing tax-payers; rather taxing those who are earning well and are still out of tax net and industrial development banks must be encouraged to support the industrial sector instead of commercial banks that are focused in consumer finance, it said. The trade development authority be given targets to find out new avenues for boosting our exports, curb smuggling of tyres & tubes and electronic items by various measures including reduction in high tariffs.

The Audi A8 is a powerful and elegant looking car, but if you are going to describe this vehicle in a word, it would be luxurious. Audi has tried to create a machine that pairs, power with comfort, in a saloon car and from our test we would agree, any senior executive would be very pleased if this was his/her car. With prices starting at £49,975 and rising to £80,260 it may not be one of the most common cars in the UK but it will turn heads.
Already a preconceived thought on how the A8 will drive? Well get rid of it, yes this car may look big and maybe you would think a little cumbersome, well think the opposite, the A8 performs quite majestically on the open road. We tested the car on both, motorways and B-roads and the A8 proved to be much more than a motorway cruiser. It may look as ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ with its high-brow stance but this car for the size of it, handles terrifically well on B-roads. ‘Press-on’ and you will be delighted by the feedback you get from the front wheels, the handling is refreshingly surprising… in a good way. The A8 has adaptive air suspension with variable damping – this adjusts the suspension automatically when the road surface changes. Making the car a really good drive on even the most challenging roads.
Imagine purchasing a Mercedes-Benz after enjoying a superb meal and fine wine...like enjoying a salmon nicoise with a new C-Class. The owners of Mercedes-Benz of Rocklin and Bistro 33 thought it an innovative combination of fine dining and car retailing, unique to this region if not the entire country. And even in one of the toughest economies since the Depression.
The idea was discussed over dinner at Bistro 33 in El Dorado Hills some twelve months ago. "While enjoying a meal, and looking across the lake at our dealership situated in Town Center, we thought why not bring two great brands together under one roof," shared George Grinzewitsch Jr., owner of Von Housen Automotive Group, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz of Rocklin as well as Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Sacramento and El Dorado Hills.
With Bistro 33 Rocklin, SRO Inc. continues its commitment to bringing "inventive neighborhood dining" to the community. "At Bistro 33 Rocklin, our customers will experience the ultimate luxury destination while dining on infused interpretations of timeless American classic fare with a modernistic sensibility at appealing prices. Just as they did in stately East Sacramento with 33rd Street Bistro and in Sacramento's classic Land Park neighborhood with Riverside Clubhouse, we have created a restaurant in Rocklin that the Placer County residents truly believe to be their own," shared Matt Haines, co-owner of SRO Inc. The restaurant will be open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar.
‘The Lotus Elan must surely rate as the best new sports car of 1962. Chapman's best by far production car to date.”
It's very likely I read the review of the latest creation to emerge from Colin Chapman's Cheshunt factory in the January, 1963, edition of Sports Car Graphic magazine that concluded with those taglines.
It was one of the monthly magic mirrors through which I viewed an exotic automotive world impossibly remote from the Ontario small town I was growing up in. I certainly recall adding the Elan to my expanding sports car wish list.
The Lotus name, despite being around for only a decade, was by then capable of generating in a budding enthusiast's imagination a lust that, if unrequited, often remained latent for years.
About the same time I was falling under the spell of Brit sports cars, the same thing was happening to Iain Thomson in New Zealand.
His family (like mine) had emigrated from Great Britain, Scotland in his case, to a far-away place. But despite its greater distance, New Zealand – not being influenced as Canada was by the proximity of U.S. car makers – retained closer automotive links to “home.” And it was a car-keen country to grow up in, according to Thomson.
There are number of cars which are available in market in luxury segment. These include BMW series, S-Class Mercedes Benz, Jaguar XJ, Porsche 911 and Lexus Ls 460. Apart from these there are other cars such as Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley which are among the extremely high end vehicles usually with large price. You can even get a tailor made customized car on special orders which will cost you more than $1000, 000 with delivery time of more than 1 year.
When you’re rich, you get yourself luxury cars. When you’re rich & you have luxury cars, you join luxury car clubs like the Collexium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Collexium was created by a Boca Raton resident in December 2006. Since that time the luxury car club has risen in popularity & features a sleek lounge, business center & showroom that shows off anything from an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish to a Ferrari F430.
Doesn’t sound like too bad a life to me….
Luxury vehicle is a marketing term for a vehicle that provides luxury — pleasant or desirable features beyond strict necessity at increased expense (see: definition of luxury).
The term suggests a vehicle with greater equipment, performance, construction precision, comfort, design ingenuity, technological innovation, or features that convey brand image, cachet, status, or prestige—or any other discretionary feature or combination of features.
The term may be applied to any vehicle type—from minivan to convertible, crossover or sport utility vehicle and to any size vehicle, from small to large—in any price range.
Though widely used, the term is broad and highly variable: "What is a luxury car to some... may be 'ordinary' to others."
For example, Cadillac is introducing a compact model, ATS, in 2011. Lexus will unveil a new compact concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Toyota's 2010 RX SUV is upgraded technologically but is $900 cheaper than the 2009 version.
It's a radical about-face for the industry. Just a few years ago, many Americans -- feeling rich as the economy soared -- flocked to luxury nameplates, including new models from upscale small cars to $60,000 SUVs. "We aren't necessarily getting the under-35s back in the [luxury] market and we think there is some resistance to them coming in," says Rebecca Lindland, an auto analyst at IHS Global Insight, "both from a social-conscious perspective as well as an economic one."
